Iran strengthens diplomatic and judicial ties with Iraq and China

Iran is strengthening its diplomatic and judicial ties with both Iraq and China. In a meeting between Iranian Judiciary Deputy Nasser Seraj and Iraqi Ambassador Yasser Abdel Zahra Al-Hajjaj, both nations emphasized the importance of judicial cooperation, including the transfer of convicts, extradition of criminals, and the exchange of judicial delegations.

Seraj highlighted Iran’s historical support for the Iraqi government and people, particularly during the fight against ISIS. Al-Hajjaj reaffirmed the deep-rooted connection between the two nations, stating that manufactured controversies would not weaken their bond.

Separately, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss regional stability. Wang described China and Iran as comprehensive strategic partners and expressed Beijing’s desire to expand cooperation to protect their respective legitimate rights and interests.

Wang addressed the instability in the Middle East, advocating for dialogue to resolve international disputes and expressing support for Iran in its negotiations with Gulf countries. He also emphasized the need for a new, inclusive security architecture in the region and called for the prevention of regional tensions spreading to Yemen and the Red Sea.
