Iran targets mining sector growth through technology and deep exploration
Iranian officials are emphasizing the strategic importance of the mining sector to reduce oil dependency and enhance export capabilities through technological advancement and value chain completion. Seyyed Javad Hosseini Kia, a member of the Parliament's Industries and Mines Commission, highlighted that specialized exhibitions like Iran CanMine serve as vital platforms for introducing knowledge-based companies and attracting investment to the mining industry.
In Kerman Province, Vajehollah Jafari, Deputy for Mining and Mineral Industries at the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, announced plans to modernize the sector by focusing on deep exploration and the consolidation of geological data. Jafari noted that efforts are underway to organize exploration data to facilitate investor access and to move the industry away from selling raw materials toward producing finished products. The ministry is also working on geological mapping at a 1:50,000 scale in collaboration with the Geological Survey of Iran and the private sector.
