Iran targets non-oil export growth through new trade initiatives
In observance of National Export Day, Iranian officials have announced a series of specialized programs aimed at expanding non-oil exports and strengthening economic diplomacy. Mohammad Ali Dehghan Dehnavi, head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, stated that a week-long schedule of meetings and events has been organized to identify and remove trade barriers, enhance synergy between the public and private sectors, and improve trade corridors.
The agenda includes discussions on infrastructure and trade corridors with the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, as well as sessions on value-added trade and the export of knowledge-based goods and services. Future sessions will also address the role of export management companies and technical and engineering services.
Additionally, Hossein Rouzbeh, head of the organization for international scientific and technological cooperation, emphasized the critical role of knowledge-based exports in improving Iran’s trade balance and soft power. He noted that while the ecosystem possesses competitive advantages due to specialized human resources and competitive costs, the primary goal is to stabilize the presence of knowledge-based companies in existing markets before expanding into new international destinations.
