Iran tests anti-ship missile near U.S. carrier and warns of vessel destruction

Iran has intensified its maritime and military posture amid escalating regional tensions. Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary-General of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, announced that the country recently conducted an anti-ship missile test in the vicinity of an American aircraft carrier. Rezaei stated that Tehran has adjusted its strategy toward Washington following perceived breaches of previous agreements and claimed Iran has identified weaknesses in the U.S. military.

Simultaneously, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has issued a warning regarding the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC stated that any vessels attempting to pass through the strategic waterway without authorization could face “destruction.” Tehran maintains that it has asserted control over the passage as tensions rise involving the United States and Israel.

On the diplomatic front, Rezaei noted that Iran is communicating through Qatari mediators to convey conditions for ending hostilities. Tehran’s stated requirements for a resolution include the cessation of war on all fronts, the release of frozen funds, and an end to naval blockades.
