Iran threatens regional tech infrastructure and ground invasions

Iranian officials have issued severe warnings regarding the potential escalation of conflict with the United States. Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, stated that if military hostilities resume, Tehran may target critical technological infrastructure in the Persian Gulf, including data centers, AI facilities, and submarine communication cables. These assets, located primarily in the United Arab Emirates and around the Strait of Hormuz, are estimated to be worth over $2 trillion.

Beyond technological targets, reports indicate that Iranian officials have suggested the possibility of ground invasions into neighboring countries as a response to US military actions. Potential regional targets for retaliation include Saudi Arabian oil facilities. Simultaneously, Iran has reportedly ordered allied groups in Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq to prepare for support in the event of a large-scale US offensive.

Diplomatic efforts continue through mediators like Qatar and Pakistan to resolve disputes in the Strait of Hormuz, though Iran has described recent US responses to its proposals as 'insufficient.' On the economic front, Iranian Parliament President Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf emphasized that US economic warfare remains a more significant challenge than military or cyber threats. This follows claims from the US Treasury that Washington has successfully disrupted Iran's crude oil revenue through increased sanctions and maritime restrictions.
