Iran ties Strait of Hormuz reopening to US meeting specific conditions

Iranian officials have stated that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened and diplomatic negotiations with the United States will not resume until Washington meets specific conditions. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf emphasized that the nation's position is non-negotiable, tying the movement of strategic shipping routes to the fulfillment of American commitments.

Mohsen Rezaee, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, outlined several requirements for ending the conflict, which have reportedly been communicated through Qatari mediation. These conditions include the unfreezing of Iranian assets, an end to hostilities on all fronts, the lifting of the US naval blockade on Iranian ports and vessels, and a cessation of US interference in Iran's internal affairs.

In response to potential military escalations, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters warned that any US military action would result in ‘continuous, effective and painful’ retaliation against American bases and interests throughout the region. The command also cautioned regional nations against assisting US operations.
