Iran to add 500,000 Tomans to household subsidy coupons
The CEO of the Targeting Subsidies Organization, Hassan Norouzi, announced that an additional 500,000 Tomans will be credited to the electronic subsidy coupons of eligible households within the next one to two days. This amount is in addition to the existing 1 million Toman credit.
The increase follows government efforts to maintain consumer purchasing power amid exchange rate reforms and the removal of preferential currency rates for essential goods. The decision was operationalized by a working group comprising the Central Bank, the Plan and Budget Organization, the Ministry of Economy, and the Ministry of Welfare.
Currently, approximately 18.3 million households, representing about 40 million people, have been identified for this phase. These household heads were notified via SMS to provide self-declarations regarding their economic status, including assets such as vehicles and real estate, through the ‘Government Man’ system.
