Iran to begin strategic domestic poultry procurement

Iran's Livestock Support Company has announced the commencement of a strategic procurement program for domestic frozen poultry, starting September 14 (23 Shahrivar). The initiative, approved by the Market Regulation Headquarters, aims to strengthen strategic reserves, support domestic producers, and enhance market management capacity.

Under the program, frozen, shrink-wrapped chickens weighing between 1,200 and 1,800 grams will be purchased from producers at a rate of 335,000 Tomans per kilogram, delivered to cold storage facilities. Parviz Jafari, CEO of the Livestock Support Company, stated that the plan is designed to ensure stable supply and provide a buffer for effective market intervention when necessary.

In regional developments, the Kurdistan Jihad Agriculture Organization held a specialized meeting to address the sustainability of poultry production. Officials, including representatives from veterinary services and poultry unions, discussed ways to coordinate the production chain—from producers to slaughterhouses—to prevent production gaps and reduce producer concerns. The organization emphasized the need to balance the protection of producer investments with the continuous supply of chicken meat to meet consumer needs.
