Iran to develop satellites with one-meter imaging resolution
Hassan Salarieh, head of the Iranian Space Agency, announced that Iran is developing a new generation of remote sensing satellites capable of achieving an imaging resolution of one meter or better. These satellites are currently in the design and manufacturing stages, with several expected to complete the design phase and enter production shortly. The initiative aims to create various satellite constellations with resolutions ranging from better than one meter to several dozen meters to support diverse applications.
Salarieh also revealed that more than 30 satellites are currently under various stages of design and construction within the country. These projects span both remote sensing and telecommunications sectors. The expansion of the space industry is intended to provide high-value data for specialized institutions to assist in areas such as water management, urban planning, agriculture, and mining.
During a cooperation agreement signing with the Khorasan Razavi province, Salarieh emphasized the importance of utilizing scientific and technological capacities in the region to support the space industry's value chain, particularly in downstream applications that utilize satellite imagery for economic problem-solving.
