Iran to launch comprehensive free cancer treatment program in October

Iran's Ministry of Health has announced the launch of a comprehensive national cancer program starting in October. According to Seyyed Sajjad Razavi, the Deputy Minister of Health, the initiative aims to provide free cancer treatment services to all patients.

The program will utilize a centralized system to register and track all relevant data, including insurance information, physicians, patients, and charitable contributors. This systematic approach is intended to ensure that medical services are accessible without financial barriers.

Speaking at the opening of an advanced nuclear medicine imaging center (PET scan) in Kerman, Razavi emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and the integration of new technologies, such as gene therapy, to improve outcomes. He noted that while the government has mandates for free cancer care, the involvement of charitable organizations is essential to manage the high costs of modern medical technologies and ensure patients do not face financial ruin to afford necessary procedures.
