Iran unveils two‑year economic resilience plan
Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Madani Zadeh announced a comprehensive two‑year programme aimed at strengthening the country's economic resilience amid the combined pressures of war, sanctions and other external shocks. The plan targets macro‑economic stability, uninterrupted supply of essential goods, support for damaged industrial and service sectors, reconstruction of infrastructure, expansion of non‑oil exports, facilitation of foreign trade, banking reforms and attraction of domestic investment. Madani Zadeh also asserted that the government expects no deficit in the general budget and has the tools to maintain fiscal stability.
The programme’s success, analysts say, will hinge on the government's ability to secure financing, control inflation and create a stable business environment. Experts note that while the plan could mitigate short‑term crises, deeper structural issues such as chronic inflation, budget gaps, banking sector imbalances and sanctions‑related constraints will require longer‑term reforms.
