Iran-U.S. confrontation escalates as Trump claims 90% likelihood of Khamenei's death
President Donald Trump said there is about a 90% chance that Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has been killed in recent U.S.-Israeli strikes, adding that Iran no longer has the capacity to rebuild its military forces. He also announced that U.S. forces are taking full control of the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian leadership, via a written message from Mojtaba Khamenei, vowed revenge for the killing of his father, former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and warned that retaliation is a popular demand. Trump warned that he has ordered the U.S. military to be ready to strike Iran if Tehran attempts to assassinate him, while missile exchanges continue and diplomatic talks over the ceasefire remain fragile.
