US Treasury Secretary announces massive sanctions and blockade against Iran FAST-MOVING

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has announced a plan to impose what he describes as the 'toughest sanctions in history' against Iran. The strategy, which President Donald Trump has termed 'Economic D-Day,' aims to collapse the Iranian regime through a 'double blow' consisting of a maritime blockade in the Strait of Hormuz and unprecedented economic isolation.

Bessent stated that the administration intends to use maximum economic pressure to avoid large-scale military operations. He issued an ultimatum to international allies and trading partners, declaring, 'You are either with us or against us.' The U.S. will target any entity, including foreign companies and governments, that provides a 'lifeline' to Tehran through oil purchases, fund transfers, or maritime transport.

Following the announcement, global oil prices rose to a three-week high. The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the measures as 'economic terrorism' and 'crimes against humanity,' asserting that the sanctions would not undermine national sovereignty. China has also rejected the move, stating that unilateral sanctions and pressure will not resolve regional conflicts and calling for diplomatic solutions.
