Iran war receives minimal coverage at Republican convention and on Fox News

The ongoing war with Iran received minimal attention during the Republican midterm convention in Dallas. While President Donald Trump defended the conflict in his speeches and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth referenced it in a video, most other convention speakers avoided the topic. This lack of engagement follows reports of growing unpopularity for the war, with an NBC News Decision Desk Poll indicating that 69% of adults disapprove of the President's handling of the conflict.

Simultaneously, coverage of the Iran war has declined on Fox News evening opinion programming. Data from August shows that programs such as Ingraham, Hannity, and Jesse Watters Primetime referenced ‘socialism’ significantly more often than ‘Iran’. For instance, Ingraham’s show recorded 203 mentions of socialism compared to only 25 mentions of Iran during that month.
