Iran warns regional states against funding military AI firms

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a warning to Middle Eastern governments, investment funds, and corporations against providing resources to artificial intelligence companies that support military aggression or are involved in the killing of children. The warning specifies that support in the form of funding, equity, land, or energy must be withheld from these entities to avoid coercive measures from Tehran.

In conjunction with these warnings, Ghalibaf announced plans to establish the Persian Gulf Data Management Authority. This new body is intended to monitor data flows and digital infrastructure throughout the region.

These developments follow warnings from Mohsen Rezaei, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, regarding potential Iranian strikes on undersea cables, data centers, and AI infrastructure should military hostilities with the United States and Israel resume. This tension occurs amid ongoing conflict and statements from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the potential use of heavy munitions to end the war.
