Iran warns of firm response if US and Israel breach tentative agreement
Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tehran will respond firmly to any aggression if the United States and Israel fail to honor the preliminary agreement that ended hostilities in June. He emphasized Iran’s commitment to all 14 clauses of the pact and warned of legal and diplomatic action over alleged war crimes.
In parallel, indirect talks between the United States and Iran in Doha focused on technical issues such as maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and the release of frozen Iranian funds, but did not produce substantive progress toward a lasting peace. Qatar’s foreign ministry noted “positive steps” while the United States president, Donald Trump, claimed the nuclear talks were advancing and reiterated that Iran’s military capability had been neutralized.
The negotiations are set to resume after the funeral ceremonies for former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, whose death was linked to earlier US‑Israeli air strikes. Iran also met with officials from Turkmenistan, China, Namibia and Afghanistan during the funeral period, reiterating its demand for full implementation of the agreement and accountability for civilian casualties.
