Iran warns of future confrontation amid regional maritime incidents
Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, stated that the country’s armed forces have prepared a plan for a possible future confrontation. Describing the plan as more devastating than previous conflicts, Rezaei did not provide specific operational details or a timetable, though reports suggest the strategy is intended to counter U.S.-Israeli aggression.
Separately, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported several vessel incidents near regional shipping routes between October 16 and 18. In Saudi Arabia, a tanker northeast of Al Jubayl was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade fired from a small boat, causing damage to the ship’s rear port side; the crew was reported safe. Another tanker in the same vicinity was struck by an unidentified projectile, leading to crew evacuation.
In other maritime activity, a skiff engaged in an exchange of fire with a liquefied natural gas tanker southwest of Al Mukalla, Yemen, and a tugboat was struck by unidentified projectiles northeast of Khor Fakkan, United Arab Emirates.
