Iran warns of retaliation against potential US strikes on Koh-e Kalang

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei has warned that the Islamic Republic will not leave any strike unanswered, responding to threats from US President Donald Trump regarding potential attacks on the Koh-e Kalang underground facilities near the Natanz nuclear site.

Baghaei stated that the era of ‘hit and run’ tactics is over and emphasized that Iran would respond with at least equal intensity if attacked. Regarding recent diplomatic activity, he clarified that discussions between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian officials in Tehran focused on regional issues, the Persian Gulf, and the Strait of Hormuz, but did not include the topic of nuclear enrichment.

He further denied speculation that nuclear deal details were being discussed between Tehran and Moscow, asserting that Iran has not entered into nuclear negotiations with Washington. While expressing distrust toward the United States, Baghaei noted that Tehran remains open to diplomacy if an opportunity arises to prevent further escalation, citing US ‘excessive demands’ as a primary obstacle to progress.
