Iran warns of war readiness amid U.S. election interference efforts
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran is prepared for both diplomacy and potential large-scale conflict with the United States. In an interview, Araghchi emphasized that Tehran has adjusted its tactics following previous wars and remains ready to defend national interests against any aggression, even describing the possibility of a “doomsday war.” He noted that while a reasonable plan is on the table, the responsibility for rejecting diplomacy lies with the U.S. administration.
In a separate development, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a 26-page open letter to the American public ahead of the U.S. midterm elections. The letter urges voters to remove politicians they describe as “evil, deceitful, and violent” from Congress, specifically targeting allies of Donald Trump. The document calls for an end to U.S. support for Israel and the complete withdrawal of American military forces from the Middle East.
This political pressure coincides with the scheduled withdrawal of U.S. forces from their final bases in Iraq. Tehran has characterized this withdrawal as a victory for its “axis of resistance,” a network of allied armed groups in the region. The withdrawal follows a period of intense conflict involving hundreds of attacks on U.S. diplomatic and military installations by regional militias.
