Iran welcomes Russian offer to facilitate dialogue with Gulf nations
Iran has expressed appreciation for Russia's offer to facilitate dialogue between Tehran and Persian Gulf nations. Kazem Jalali, the Iranian Ambassador to Russia, stated that Tehran views Russia's efforts to improve relations with its neighbors positively and is prepared to cooperate in this endeavor.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov previously indicated that Moscow is willing to provide a platform for dialogue to help reach an agreement between Iran and Arab nations, though he noted that Russia does not intend to impose itself on the process. Jalali described Russia as a “true friend” during difficult times for Iran.
Relations between Iran and its Arab neighbors in the Gulf region have faced deterioration following the onset of conflict involving the United States and Israel in late February. This period has been marked by Iranian responses to U.S. actions, including strikes on U.S. military bases located within several of these countries.
