Iran welfare official clarifies fruit and vegetable subsidy rules

Yaghoub Andesh, Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare, has addressed the status of electronic subsidies for fruits and vegetables in Iran. He clarified that participation in the subsidy program is voluntary for retailers. Consequently, not all vendors in fruit and vegetable markets are required to participate; only those who have officially joined the scheme can accept electronic subsidies.

Andesh emphasized that participating stores must provide continuous and consistent services to avoid causing public confusion. Stores that fail to offer the subsidy service regularly may face restrictions regarding their re-entry into the program.

This clarification follows reports from the Deputy Mayor of Tehran regarding a halt in fruit and vegetable subsidy sales at certain fruit and vegetable markets, which was attributed to delays in government settlements with vendors.
