Iran welfare services expand digital access and support coverage

The State Welfare Organization of Iran is expanding its digital service capabilities and managing significant social support demands across various provinces.

In Zanjan, the welfare organization has launched a virtual service desk connected to the national smart government portal. This system allows users to register and track 54 approved services, including the issuance of center licenses, filing complaints, adoption processes, and disability cards. Currently, 30 of these services are fully electronic, while 24 require in-person attendance due to their nature. The system aims to reduce physical visits and facilitate easier access for target communities.

In Kermanshah, the welfare organization reports supporting 192,000 individuals across 81,831 households. Approximately 49,600 people in the province utilize rehabilitation services. Despite increases in livelihood assistance credits, officials note that existing resources remain insufficient to meet all needs. Key challenges include the high cost of medical equipment, physiotherapy, and specialized care, leading to calls for more effective insurance coverage to prevent economic hardship for families of persons with disabilities.
