Iran wrestling coach warns of US trip cancellation over visa issues
Pejman Dorstkar, the head coach of the Iranian national freestyle wrestling team, has stated that the team will not be sent to the United States if even a single member is denied a visa.
Addressing the role of Alireza Dabir, the president of the Wrestling Federation, Dorstkar clarified that while Dabir provides oversight, he does not interfere in the design of training programs. Dorstkar also discussed the integration of scientific training methods, noting a shift toward an 80 percent wrestling and 20 percent bodybuilding split to improve performance.
Regarding the competitive calendar, Dorstkar highlighted the difficulty posed by the overlap of the Nagoya Asian Games and the World Championships. He suggested that the National Olympic Committee needs to negotiate with international authorities to resolve these scheduling conflicts. Additionally, he noted that certain wrestlers, such as Rahman Amouzad and Kamran Ghasempour, will not participate in the Asian Games due to weight management requirements.
