Iranian army mobilises forces for leader's farewell ceremony

Army spokesperson Major General Mohammad Akrami Nia said the Islamic Republic of Iran's army is operating in a state of war readiness ahead of the farewell and transport ceremony for the "martyr leader of the revolution." He announced that ground, naval and air units have reinforced border positions, that air‑defence forces are monitoring the sky and controlling air traffic, and that helicopter units are on full alert to provide emergency medical support.

The army has set up four "pilgrimage cities" on the outskirts of Tehran, equipped with mobile hospitals of over 100 beds each, field kitchens, bakeries and extensive hospitality services. More than 10,000 army university students and staff will assist with medical, cultural and logistical duties, while mobile clinics and ten army hospitals in Tehran and Mashhad stand ready. Foreign dignitaries are expected to attend, and the army emphasised that the preparations aim to showcase Iran's strength and enhance its international standing.

"We consider ourselves in a state of war and are ready to act at any moment," Akrami Nia said, adding that the army will continue to protect the country's borders and airspace throughout the event.
