Iranian cities adjust transport rates for school season

In Dezful, officials have addressed public concerns regarding school transport rates. Ali Vahdatipour, head of the Dezful Passenger and Freight Transport Management Organization, stated that rates are determined through expert analysis to balance the economic needs of families with the profitability required to attract drivers. He defended the three-kilometer minimum distance policy, explaining that shorter distances are often not economically viable for drivers and noting that vehicle routes for pick-ups and drop-offs are typically longer than walking distances.

In Shiraz, municipal authorities are working to reduce urban commuting costs ahead of the new school year. Mohammad Farokhzadeh, Deputy of Transport and Traffic for the Shiraz Municipality, announced that metro and bus fares will be standardized at 5,000 Tomans for both ticket holders and those without cards on most urban routes. This measure aims to support family livelihoods and encourage public transit use to manage traffic. While some long-distance routes to surrounding villages may have different rates, the policy ensures that a lack of a transit card does not impose extra costs on citizens.
