Iranian cyber attacks on Israel surge to roughly 4,800 incidents in 2026

Israeli cyber‑security officials report a sharp rise in Iranian cyber attacks after a U.S.–Israeli strike on Iran earlier this year. Yossi Karandi, director of Israel’s National Cyber Security Authority, told Die Welt that the number of hostile cyber incidents recorded in June rose from about 1,600 in June 2025 to roughly 4,800 in June 2026.

The attacks have targeted systems used by Israel’s critical infrastructure, central government agencies, small and medium‑size enterprises and the public, including legal and accounting firms. Karandi said some Iranian groups are highly experienced, but Israel has so far managed to repel attacks on its most vital infrastructure. Companies that were easier to breach have suffered data erasures. Iran continues to deny conducting cyber‑campaigns against other states while claiming it is a victim of attacks.

The increase underscores heightened cyber‑security challenges for Israel and raises concerns about regional cyber‑warfare dynamics.
