Iranian Embassy in Sierra Leone posts satirical map of North America

The Iranian Embassy in Sierra Leone has released a satirical map on social media targeting U.S. President Donald Trump. The image depicts North America with large portions of the United States territory divided between “South Canada” and “North Mexico.”

The post, accompanied by the caption “Finally, Canada and Mexico solved the world’s biggest problem,” appears to be a response to Trump’s recent social media activity regarding geographic names. This includes his proposal to rename New Mexico to “New America” and his use of maps where the word “Mexico” was replaced by “America.” The embassy's publication uses irony to take these naming controversies to a fictional territorial extreme.
