Iranian football sees academy success and youth team advancement

Developments in Iranian football highlight both the success of youth academies and the challenges facing national youth teams. The Foolad Khuzestan academy has been recognized as a top talent producer in Iran, with its youth team securing a national championship under coach Ali Ben-Mohsen and the academy seeing successful management under Hassan Houri.

In the national arena, Iran's youth national team coach Ghasem Haddadifar expressed mixed emotions following a 3-1 victory over Vietnam in the final round of the Asian Cup qualifiers. While the team secured advancement to the next stage, Haddadifar noted that a disallowed goal in a previous match against North Korea prevented an earlier qualification. He emphasized that the squad was assembled quickly and faced limited training opportunities compared to competitors.

Additionally, former national team player Karim Bostani has called for the revitalization of school-based football in Khuzestan. He argued that regular, structured school competitions are essential for discovering local talent and returning the region to its former glory in football development.
