Iranian government granted 45 days to nominate Intelligence and Defense ministers
Abbas Goudarzi, spokesperson for the Presiding Board of the Iranian Parliament, announced that the government has been granted permission by the Supreme Leader to nominate ministers for Intelligence and Defense.
Starting from August 20, the government has a one-and-a-half-month window to present these nominees to the Islamic Consultative Assembly. There is a proposal to remove the requirement of 'ijtihad' (religious expertise) for the Minister of Intelligence. Because this proposal conflicts with current laws, the government is expected to submit a bill to Parliament to amend the necessary legislation.
Regarding local council elections, Goudarzi noted that any decisions concerning delays will be handled by the Supreme National Security Council. Additionally, elections for specialized parliamentary commissions are ongoing, with the Article 90 Commission election scheduled for August 15 and the Judicial Commission election for August 26.
