Iranian journalists urged to become AI‑assisted analysts, not mere copyists

At the same time, experts warned that the rapid adoption of generative AI tools like ChatGPT and DeepSeek in newsrooms could reduce journalists to simple information relayers. Dr. Mohammad‑Reza Soltani‑Nejad of Allameh Tabataba'i University argued that AI should serve as a research assistant, helping reporters uncover hidden angles, contradictory statistics, and historical context, while field reporting and on‑the‑ground observation remain essential. He cautioned against statistical hallucinations and the loss of creative analysis that can occur when journalists rely solely on AI‑generated text.
