Iranian leaders meet with Kurdistan Union head to boost cooperation

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf held meetings with Bafel Talabani, head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, to discuss strengthening ties with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

President Pezeshkian emphasized the historical, cultural, and social bonds between Iran and the Kurdistan Region, stating that these relations hold special importance for the Islamic Republic. He called for increased regional cooperation and dialogue to ensure stability and development, warning that external efforts by the United States and Israel aim to create division and exploit regional resources.

Speaker Ghalibaf highlighted the need to expand economic, political, and security cooperation to the highest levels. He noted that while Iran seeks to develop relations with neighbors, it must remain vigilant against separatist groups and foreign conspiracies intended to create tension between Iran and Iraq.
