Iran officials emphasize civil defense and infrastructure resilience
Officials across several Iranian provinces are highlighting the importance of civil defense (passive defense) during a dedicated awareness week. The focus is on shifting from purely instructional approaches to scientific, operational, and people-centered strategies to reduce societal vulnerability and increase resilience against various threats.
In Kerman, authorities emphasized the necessity of maintaining essential services such as food, energy, fuel, and medical care during crises. Officials called for proactive planning for winter conditions and the securing of fuel reserves for critical sectors like industry and healthcare. In Fars, discussions extended beyond military threats to include the management of fake news and cyber threats, noting that civil defense must encompass schools, families, and digital spaces.
In Bushehr, the governor underscored the strategic importance of protecting energy and communication infrastructure, particularly given the province's maritime borders and petrochemical facilities. Meanwhile, in East Azerbaijan, education officials called for integrating civil defense principles into daily school activities and student awareness programs to ensure safety within educational environments.
