Iranian Parliament Advances Strait of Hormuz Management Bill
The National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran’s parliament held a session to review and consolidate around a dozen proposals for a comprehensive management law for the Strait of Hormuz. Chairman Ibrahim Azizī reported that the draft, which integrates input from various executive agencies and armed forces, will be finalized after receiving all agencies’ comments by Wednesday and then submitted for a vote in the commission next week.
The aim of the legislation is to codify Iran’s strategic, economic, and security interests in the waterway, drawing on guidance from the Supreme Leader’s statements on the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. Parliament members indicated strong support for a swift yet thorough approval process to ensure legal backing for future actions in the region.
