Iranian Parliament debates gasoline price denial and response to enemy threats
Members of Iran's Parliament voiced concerns over a possible rise in gasoline prices. Representative Hossein‑Ali Haji‑Delgani warned that higher fuel costs would affect all goods and services and urged the parliamentary leadership to block any increase. Deputy Speaker Ali Nikzad cited a briefing with Budget Organization head Pour‑Mohammadi, stating that a price rise is dismissed and that quota adjustments will be used instead. Nikzad also noted that the government has already paid 110 trillion rials for 6.8 million tonnes of wheat and plans a further 110 trillion rials by 22 August, bringing total payments to 220 trillion rials.
In a separate parliamentary session, Representative Mohammad‑Reza Ahmadi‑Sangur called for a firm response to enemy threats, emphasizing the need for national cohesion, support for the armed forces, and decisive legislative action to safeguard the country's security and authority.
