Iranian Parliament Pushes Funding for Health Services and Essential Goods

Iranian parliamentary committees met to address funding and supply gaps in health and essential goods.

Health Commission head Salman Eshaqi reported a meeting with the Health Minister, university leaders and the Budget Organization to secure urgent payments for medical staff, increase medical equipment stocks, and compensate war‑related damages. The 2025 budget includes 110 billion rials for health insurance losses and 70 billion for social‑security bonds, and a Saturday coordination session was scheduled to allocate these resources. Hormozgan province still faces a shortage of 43 essential drug items that the commission aims to resolve.

Economic Commission head Seyed Shams‑al‑Din Hosseini, together with the head of Customs, reviewed export, import and transit operations, stating that the supply of essential goods and medicines remains stable despite external pressures and recent customs closures. Improved wheat production, adequate storage and effective customs activity have reduced concerns over basic commodity shortages, while efforts continue to secure intermediate raw materials and machinery.
