Iranian Revolutionary Guard claims seizure of US drones near Qeshm Island

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard has announced the seizure of two American MQM-170 reconnaissance drones south of Qeshm Island. According to statements released by Iranian news agencies Tasnim and IRNA, the drones were intercepted and controlled using advanced electronic warfare systems belonging to the Guard's aerospace force.

This incident follows reports of explosions heard on Qeshm Island, a strategic location situated at the entrance of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global maritime corridor for oil and gas supplies. The Guard noted that this seizure brings the total number of MQM-170 drones captured to four.

In a separate announcement, the Revolutionary Guard also claimed to have destroyed an American MQ-9 drone east of the Strait of Hormuz using an advanced air defense system, stating it was the 55th aircraft of that model they have downed. There has been no independent confirmation regarding these Iranian claims.
