Iranian rial strengthens as dollar and dirham rates rise on Aug 26, 2024

On Sunday, 4 Mordad 1405 (26 August 2024), Iran's foreign‑exchange market saw modest gains for the rial. The official US‑dollar price held at 188,910 toman, while the euro fell to 214,860 toman, down 10 toman. The British pound rose to 251,690 toman, up 20 toman, and other currencies showed limited moves: the Canadian dollar and Australian dollar increased by 10‑70 toman each, the Chinese yuan was unchanged, and the Korean won rose by 100 toman.

In the remittance (center) market, the dollar’s sell rate edged up to 151,569 toman (+102) and the buy rate to 150,204 toman (+100). The euro’s sell and buy rates slipped to 172,404 toman and 170,852 toman respectively (‑31 each). The Emirati dirham continued its gentle climb, with sell and buy rates reaching 41,271 toman (+28) and 40,899 toman (+27). Other noted changes included a 1‑toman rise for the Russian ruble, an 11‑toman increase for the Chinese yuan, and a 100‑toman gain for the South‑Korean won. Overall, the market displayed low volatility but a slight bias toward higher prices for the dollar and dirham.
