Iranian Sepak Takraw officials invited to 2026 Nagoya Asian Games

Three Iranian representatives from the Sepak Takraw community have been invited to participate in the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan. The invited individuals include Sohrab Azad, Vice President of the Asian Sepak Takraw Federation and member of the technical committee; Ali Fouladi Rad, Secretary of the Iranian Sepak Takraw Association and member of the World Federation executive committee; and Maliheh Shahverdi, a member of the World Federation refereeing committee and international referee.

Sohrab Azad and Ali Fouladi Rad bring significant experience to the event, having previously participated in the 2014 Incheon, 2018 Jakarta, and 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. Technical committee and referee coordination meetings are scheduled to take place in Nagoya on September 18 and 19, followed by the Sepak Takraw competitions from September 20 to October 2.

In a separate context regarding sports development, Seyed Mohammad Shervin Asbaghian, Deputy Minister of Sport and Youth, spoke during a farewell ceremony for athletes from the Mobarakeh Steel Sepahan Club. He emphasized the importance of strong sports as a pillar of national strength and noted the cultural significance of athletes representing the country on the international stage.
