Iranian steel and oil workers protest layoffs in Ahvaz and Pars facilities

Dismissed workers from the National Iranian Steel Group gathered outside the Khuzestan governor's office in Ahvaz, demanding reinstatement and payment of missed wages.

Employees of Pars Oil and Gas Company, including staff at the Pars One offshore field (also known as Asalouyeh) and its sea platforms, staged protests citing grievances over salary caps, removal of retirement benefits, tax refunds and the full implementation of Article 10 of the Iranian Oil Law. The actions are part of a broader wave of labor unrest, with the Iranian human‑rights monitor reporting more than 2,500 protest gatherings across the country in the past year, including 724 labour‑related demonstrations.
