Iran's Foreign Minister labels Netanyahu a 'wanted war criminal

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of being a ‘wanted war criminal.’ In a statement shared on X, Araghchi claimed Netanyahu is attempting to evade justice and prolong conflicts in West Asia to save his own political standing, allegedly at the expense of American lives and resources.

Araghchi’s remarks follow an interview with an Israeli general regarding the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks. The interview included allegations that Netanyahu had been forewarned of a potential war three months prior to the assault, that logs from the day of the attack were tampered with, and that hostages could have been returned sooner.

The criticism coincides with the International Criminal Court (ICC) issuing arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant. The ICC cited reasonable grounds to believe the officials bear criminal responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, including the use of starvation as a method of warfare.
