Iran's Ghalibaf meets Pakistani Army Chief to discuss regional stability
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf met with Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir in Tehran to discuss regional stability and the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. Ghalibaf accused the United States of failing to meet its commitments under the June agreement, stating that such breaches hinder regional stability and foster distrust.
The meeting occurs amid heightened tensions, with Pakistan attempting to mediate between Tehran and Washington. This diplomatic movement follows threats from U.S. President Donald Trump to impose severe economic consequences on any nation or entity providing vital support to Iran.
Ghalibaf also noted that neighboring countries have sent messages regarding the formulation of new regional security and economic cooperation arrangements. He argued that U.S. policies have jeopardized the security of its allies, potentially paving the way for a more independent local regional order.
