Iran's judiciary chief calls for US and Israel war‑crimes prosecutions and reparations
Hojjat al‑Islam Moseni Ijje, chief of Iran's judiciary, met with a group of experienced international lawyers to discuss pursuing war‑crimes cases against the United States and Israel for actions taken against Iran, particularly in the two recent wars imposed by those states. He said the alleged perpetrators must be both punished and required to pay compensation, and urged that they also face a public trial before the world.
Ijje warned that the United States and Israeli regime have committed crimes for decades, citing incidents from Hiroshima and Nagasaki to actions in West Asia and the Americas. He reaffirmed Iran’s support for the peoples of Gaza and Lebanon and announced that Iran’s prosecutor‑general, the International Relations Office, and the judiciary’s lawyers’ centre will cooperate with foreign counsel to document and litigate these alleged war crimes.
