Iran's Ministry of Economy intensifies ‘war room’ task force
The Iranian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance has intensified the activities of a specialized task force known as the ‘war room.’ According to Morteza Zamaniyan, the Deputy Minister for Economic Policy and Steering, the group was originally established at the onset of what officials describe as ‘economic warfare.’
The primary responsibility of this task force is the continuous monitoring of macroeconomic variables and the flow of goods and services within the country. Zamaniyan noted that following a recent directive from the Minister of Economy, the group has resumed its operations with increased intensity and seriousness.
Addressing the economic climate, Zamaniyan stated that while economic warfare brings unavoidable pressures such as rising inflation, the government has developed precise plans for various scenarios, including the most difficult conditions. He explained that the confidentiality of certain government economic plans is due to security constraints rather than a lack of planning or transparency. He also invited research institutions, think tanks, and universities to submit policy proposals to the ministry.
