Iran's Social Security Organization delays retirees' overdue payments
Iran's Social Security Organization (Sazman Tamin Ejtemaei) raised pension benefits in May, but arrears for the months of Farvardin and Ordibehesht remain unpaid. CEO Mustafa Salari told reporters that there is no set date for the payments; they will be made as soon as the required financial resources are secured.
Salari also outlined a pending reform of the pension calculation method, shifting from using only the last two years of wages to a formula that covers the entire career. The new coefficient‑based model adjusts for inflation and is expected to increase average pensions by 10‑15 %. The reform aims to curb the prevalent 30 % insurance‑evasion practice by ensuring workers' real wages are recorded throughout their employment.
