Iran's Supreme Leader Injured in US-Israel Strike as Mossad Dismisses Coup Planners

Israel's intelligence agency Mossad, led by director Roman Gofman, has dismissed two senior officials who had devised a covert plan to topple Iran's government. The scheme involved supporting Kurdish minority forces and other internal groups to spark mass protests and install former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, with planned strikes on IRGC positions near the Iraqi border. The operation was abandoned after leaks, diplomatic pressure from Turkey and concerns from Kurdish militants, and the two officials left their posts by mutual agreement.

In Tehran, President Masoud Pezeshkian said it is "very difficult" to reach Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who was wounded in a US‑Israel airstrike in February and has not appeared publicly since succeeding his father, Ali Khamenei, who died in the same attack. Khamenei continues to issue written statements, vowing to teach the United States a lasting lesson, and may first engage with a foreign leader through a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
