United States issues worldwide travel warning as Middle East tensions rise

The U.S. Department of State released a worldwide travel caution, urging American citizens to exercise heightened vigilance, prepare for possible flight cancellations and airspace closures, and reconsider travel to or through the Middle East. The warning cites a complex security environment and the risk of an unforeseen escalation amid ongoing U.S.–Iran strikes.

Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade also upgraded its advice for Jordan, Oman and Saudi Arabia to Level 3 (“reconsider your need to travel”), warning of sudden border closures, flight interruptions and the possibility of rapid deterioration in security conditions.

Airlines across the Gulf region have responded by suspending or cancelling numerous flights to and from Kuwait, with carriers such as Emirates, Etihad Airways, Air Arabia, Qatar Airways and SriLankan Airlines halting services until further notice. Authorities have issued additional aviation safety alerts for parts of the Gulf, advising airlines to avoid affected airspace.

The combined governmental advisories and airline disruptions reflect escalating regional tensions that threaten civilian travel and commerce across the Middle East.
