Irapuato authorities advance infrastructure and housing regularization
The municipal government of Irapuato, led by Mayor Lorena Alfaro García, is implementing several initiatives to improve urban infrastructure and legal certainty for residents.
In the El Refugio and Distrito Federal neighborhoods, officials are supervising asphalt paving and comprehensive utility upgrades. These works include the renewal of sanitary and storm drainage networks, potable water systems, and the installation of public lighting and sidewalks. The project on Sicilia Street in El Refugio is expected to benefit 87 residents, while interventions on Gonzalo Curiel Street in Distrito Federal will serve 166 people.
Additionally, the Irapuato Municipal Housing Institute (IMUVII) has signed collaboration agreements with the College of Public Notaries and the Colleges of Real Estate Valuation. These agreements aim to accelerate the regularization of human settlements by facilitating deed processes and providing accessible fiscal appraisals. Since 2021, the administration has regularized six settlements involving 1,838 lots and 1,748 deeds. The city currently identifies 107 irregular settlements inhabited by more than 49,000 people.
