Irapuato conducts pet sterilization campaign and addresses youth addiction needs
The government of Irapuato, in collaboration with the Guanajuato State Health Secretariat, conducted a mass free sterilization campaign for dogs and cats at the Centro Cristiano Nueva Vida. The initiative, which included 40 veterinarians, completed 250 procedures to help control the animal population and prevent abandonment.
Separately, the organization Centros de Rehabilitación Unidos del Bajío (CRUB) has called for increased government support to address drug addiction among minors in Irapuato. CRUB leader Nicolás Pérez Ponce noted that changes in mental health regulations have made it difficult for rehabilitation centers to treat minors directly, leaving families without adequate support networks during a period of increasing substance use at younger ages.
