Irapuato: Four killed in armed attack on football players

Four people were killed and at least three others were injured during an armed attack in the community of Ejido Malvas, located in the municipality of Irapuato, Guanajuato. The victims, a group of amateur football players, were traveling on motorcycles to return home after a match when they were intercepted by armed individuals.

The violence occurred in two distinct stages. The first attack took place on the main street of Malvas, resulting in three deaths and one injury. Following this, the attackers pursued other members of the group, leading to a second confrontation near the Malvas bridge on the Querétaro-Irapuato highway, where one more person was killed and two others were wounded.

Local authorities, including the Irapuato Citizen Security Secretariat, suggested the victims may have been caught in crossfire during a confrontation between criminal groups. Surveillance footage from the area is being used as part of the investigation. The National Guard, the Mexican Army, and the State Prosecutor's Office have deployed personnel to the scene to collect ballistic evidence and secure the area. No arrests have been reported as of the latest updates.
