Irapuato government reinstalls workplace violence prevention committee

The municipal government of Irapuato has reinstalled the Committee for the Prevention, Attention, and Sanction of Workplace Violence, Sexual Harassment, and Sexual Hostility within the public administration. Led by Mayor Lorena Alfaro García, the initiative aims to protect more than 4,000 public servants by ensuring work environments based on respect, equality, and legality.

Georgina Aboytes Guerrero, director of the Institute of Irapuatense Women (Inmira), serves as the technical secretary. The committee follows a framework protocol designed to establish procedures and mechanisms for addressing misconduct. Complaints can be filed through administrative channels—personally, via telephone, internet, or email—to the Municipal Comptroller or the Internal Affairs Unit, depending on the employee's role. Criminal complaints can be directed to the State of Guanajuato Center for Women's Justice or the Regional B Prosecutor's Office.

The committee is chaired by Councilwoman Kristian Carel Lira Trujillo, president of the Gender Equality Commission, and includes several vocal members to support the institutional culture of zero tolerance toward violence.
